Why not try some tasty local seafood from the South coast for a true taste of the ocean.

The pubs ever changing specials board, incorporating fresh, local and seasonal produce is there for you to enjoy such dishes as Pan fried Supreme of Hake with saute potatoes, spinach and peas and a beurre blanc sauce or Roasted Rump of Lamb with five bean cassoulet and rainbow vegetables or maybe Slow Cooked Belly of Pork with poached peach, dauphinoise potatoes, crackling dust and plum jus.

To complement your meal, or for a superb evening without the food, an array of award-winning wine and real ale is served at the bar.

So, sit back with a chilled glass of wine in hand – perhaps under parasols outside when the weather is warm – and appreciate the stories of deliciousness and good company this 17th-century country inn has to tell.

Lovely Village Pub Covid means eating outdoors but in this lovely pub garden it becomes a pleasure. Good, hearty pub food, properly cooked and served with a smile. Nice local beer to wash it down. Recommended.

not the best reviews looked ok but how wrong can u be booked for 7.30. called and changed to 7pm turned up and no record of our booking. luckily the place was empty. that should have been a sign something was not right. the risotto my wife ordered was barely warmed in the microwave. had she said that would have been sent back. the vegetarian burger i ordered was too spicy for me. if said spicy on menu i would gave ordered something else. when mentioned it the waitress she just agreed it is very spicy and said would tell chef. got no feedback or apology from waitress but they did take 10% off bill. however the food and service was not the best.

Popped in here for lunch. Popped in here for lunch. The owner was very cheerful and accommodating. Large beer garden out the back. Part of it is undercover. The food was from a basic menu because of Covid. The locally produced sausages were very good. (With chips) The Crab sandwiches that my wife had looked very good and she enjoyed. Dogs friendly. Well worth a visit.

Disappointing We have been eating here whenever we come on holiday (several times a year) after it was recommended by our Airbnb host. We have never been disappointed by the specials - lovely fresh vegetables and potatoes. However this weekend we had meals on Friday and Saturday and they were really poor - clearly a problem in the kitchen. On Friday night there were no specials - very mediocre pub food. We were promised the specials Saturday night so decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Yes there were some pasta specials but not the usual dishes with fresh vegetables. We chose penne bolognaise and spaghetti carbonara - what could go wrong we thought? Well .. the four pasta meals were covered in balsamic vinegar - horrible. We couldn’t eat them. Total waste of money. We passed our feedback to the waitress and no one from the management team came and spoke to us. If you want good food we can’t recommend. Shame and we hope they sort out their chef issues soon,

Great Sunday dinner! Covid compliant. Sunday dinner- choice of roast beef or pork. Both were superb and came with Yorkshire puds. The accompanying veg was the best we had ever had with a pub meal. One of us had a burger which was excellent and one of us had the chick pea curry which sadly was a bit cold (but tasty). The lasagne was a bit of a let down. Sticky toffee pud great but the brownie was a bit dry. Service was very good. If we were had all ordered roast and sticky toffee pud, we would have given 5 stars!

Fab pub When we holiday in the area this is the only pub that we repeatedly return too. Always a lovely atmosphere and delicious food. I remember one particular time I came after being out with the children all day and the waitress must have seen I was exhausted! When the food came she told me to stay seated and she would call the children in herself from the play area!!! It’s the little things that make a difference!! Can’t wait to return.
